So true! I look at the UK armed forces nowadays and weep - no doubt the same could be said of nearly all Western nations (save those which used to be part of the Soviet empire). Military leaders seriously prioritise making the armed forces more diverse (women fighting on the front line!!) than combat readiness. No wonder Putin thought the West would do nothing. What he didn’t realise is that Ukrainians no longer want to be part of an authoritarian dictatorship, and will fight for their freedom.
