The Ukranians are doing a pretty good job too. This will take months to play out. A country the size of France with 40M united people is not going to capitulate to an army comprised of demoralised soldiers who are being asked to put their lives on the line for a psychopathic criminal. This is going to be a lesson that will set the tone of international relations for years. China must be watching this play out with dread. I see a fortress Taiwan as the next game changer and maybe international recognition of it as a separate democratic country with a UN seat.

For anyone interested in a sensible analysis of the reasons Russia invaded Ukraine then they should read the following and the complete article in the link.

"Putin nurses a deep sense of grievance over the loss of Russia’s power and influence since the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. Ukraine was formerly part of the Soviet Union but declared its independence in 1991.

Having a prosperous, modern, independent and democratic European state bordering Russia was perceived as posing a threat to Russia’s autocratic regime. If Ukrainians succeeded in fully reforming their country along lines of other western democracies, it would set a bad precedent for former Soviet countries and serve as an example for Russians who want a more democratic country."
