The powerful are above legal constraints.

As for the atrocities before during and after ww2 you can thank the Bolsheviks for most of that because of the machinations of Trotsky and Stalin. Don't forget to include the civil wars between the Red and White Russians, and the incredible poverty that lead to the worst types of human behaviour in post WW1 Germany as the result of excessive war time reparations with soaring inflation and desperation from the local population. Oh, and the ethnic cleansing carried out by both Greeks and Turks in the 1920s...

So yes, when good people become indoctrinated with hatred and made desperate and miserable then the worst of humanity comes out. And Putin right now is the author and perpetrator of a new chapter of ugly false indoctrination and brutal violence. And free, ordinary people who know right from wrong have had enough of one stupid old man's ridiculous lies and aggression. the free world is outraged and unified in their rejection of Putin. That's why they walked out of Russia's bizarre UN speech.
