I don't blame your sound guy - it took me a while to get my head around the tech. A tip for him that worked for me - the key to understanding DSR (Digital Sound Reconstruction) is the term digital.

If you zoom in on a waveform in Pro-Tools or Ableton - you transition (eventually) from a smooth waveform to a waveform that goes up and down in a step pattern. Imagine that a pulse (or a compressed air parcel) is generated from an AKP chip at the desired amplitude at each horizontal step - then combine these pulses to form a sound wave.

And how does such a small chip make a loud enough sound? Small things can make big sounds; the metaphor I think about are Cicada's in the summer - one is pretty loud - but when you get 10 or 20 or more all vibrating their tymbals, it can get deafening.

The whole thing is an extraordinarily wild idea and such an outlandish departure from traditional speaker tech. After doing my research, I decided that if AKP had done what they say - and after listening to Yuval at the AGMs, I've no reason to presume they haven't - I had to take a chance on this new invention.

    Good luck all.
