    sroyle...

This is a place of discussion, be it colourful, with or without conviction, robust or timid...we all have different personatiles, this is how it should be...it would be rather bland without this. Further, there were more than enough "dissenters" posting on CVI as you say, to create balance, but not till the horse had pretty much bolted!

In the early part of this mess, before we all found the true nature of what was going on, I put to you there was no way ANYONE other than those directly involved in the fiasco could have known the nature of what was going on behind the scenes.

This is an important issues...and one you may wish to consider when discussing the nature of the posts from some of the so called "dissenters"!

I do not remember anyone ever saying CVI did NOT own Catabola, or any of their other assets for that matter...and for me, Catabola and CVI's other resource plays were the main interest. I also do not remember anyone saying CVI did not actually drill at Catabola...in fact I remember seeing photos of the rig and diamond core sitting in a shed.

So...did they actually drill at Catabola...was it even CVI's rig and core...and if so, where are the results?

Also...why was Catabola secreted into another entity, without the results being announced?

As an investor, how does one deal with such a scenario...if the Company releases such things via the ASX, we must believe it...right?

But Catabola and Longonjo were just the start...later came the oil, gas, diamonds, refinery, etc, etc...what were we to make of all these back then...it all looked pretty good, which is why I invested, but was any of it actually real?

If we cannot rely on official ASX releases...then what can we rely on? Must we doubt the validity of all ASX announcements...from all companies...and if so, how as investors do we distinguish fact from fiction in this regard?

By stealth we MUST believe what is released via the ASX...there really is no realistic alternative other than simply not to invest in the first place!

I fear far too many have become retrospective experts on the CVI situation...and whilst posters like 123enen and trent26 can clearly claim an early awareness here...and they have my utmost respect for an excellent capacity for doing so...I think even they would concede it was not an obvious awareness that came particularly early...certainly not before the share price spiked then collapsed.

The issue here, as it would appear from the potential ASIC charges, is one of being mislead and/or subject to less than appropriate behaviour at a wholesale level from the highest positions within the company.

As shareholders, we are all victims here.

An interesting aspect regarding many of the hotcopper "dissenters" though...there were a few genuine ones, but there were many more of the less than genuine types, most of which are now gone after being exposed as multi-nics. Now...whether they were part of a scam, or simply players working the retail psyche as we see in virtually every high-volume retail favourite, we may never know...suffice to say, the "cloud of war" at that time made it difficult to distinguish genuine dissenter from bad.

Fair to say it was an unusual situation, one which clearly saw various players "working" the stock, both up and down, partially due to the large retail interest which would have attracted all sorts, but in a more sinister light, possibly also due to the fact certain parties appeared to be aligned with the company via the never-ending placement process...all of which appears to have been laundered through the market.

The whole thing is just disgusting...period...and I hope for everyone's sake it never happens to any of us again. Interestingly, I suspect mild versions of this can be found in many small cap stocks across the boards. Just look at how many minnow "explorers" never seem to actually drill any of their prospects...years after year...and when they do, they knock down something like 5 holes before retreating back to their cosy offices for a few more years.

Feeding the ducks a few crumbs to keep them quiet!

It does not take years and years to start an exploration program...so fair to say I suspect a few so called "explorers" are far from it...and really just pay-packets for their respective boards.

They are not hard to find...just look for lack of activity on their assets!

Anyway...as I keep saying, there are serious lessons available to be learnt here...but we will not learn a thing if we continuously point the blame at others for our own mess. Having said that, clearly CVI drove this whole ugly situation and have likely broken the law in doing so...but I guess my point is that one can only blame oneself for "investing" in such a stock, when in all reality it was probably only good for a momentum/liquidity "trade".

Had this just been a trade for me, I would have been able to limit losses and maybe even made money...but as an investment, it was a catastophic wipe-out!

This is an important point I suspect many will not come to grips with.

    Cheers!
