Feels like you are deliberately missing the point here? Before computers you had no option but to make predictions based on historic data, its trends and a dollop of experience should you be blessed with such. But things have evolved and now the historic data merely underpins the computer model and is then thrown away with the model making its predictions based on the trained/validated algorithms contained within and a real-time feed of current data only. So from the perspective TA is very old school and now dated!
