One major problem with wind and solar is they can't delivered 24x7. You need a base generator that is consistent 24x7.
Wind and solar have location handicaps when trying to feed the masses.
But if each building had its own, like a yacht, then I think that would work, with nuclear power back up.
Nuclear reactors have come a long way. They are getting smaller and safer.
I read a while ago that in a city with high rise buildings they had wind generators mounted on walls like our box air conditioners and about same size. They had cylinder rotors that pick up wind that was funnel through the buildings. They said, made no more noise than an air conditioner
Being cylinder,(for you oldies, like a cylinder mower blade) they didn't have to face wind direction.
So rather having big ugly farms, each house have it's own solar and wind generators. And each house will maintain them. Less voltage drop, unlike farms that are many KLMS away.
Toshiba is making small nuclear pebble reactors that would be good to spread out through the country where needed.
Is it possible to covert our coal fired power houses to Gas fired.
We have the technical knowledge, we have the resources and the manpower.Just need a leader to do it.
