    I didn't say it was widely used at present, it hasn't been needed with all the cheap fossil fuels to burn.
    It is however, simple technology that a child would understand and certainly viable.
    The Germans used liquid salt technology in WW2.

    The CSIRO have developed a brilliant home sized solar thermal system using salt to power a stirling heat engine.
