Nonsense. Countries all over the world are bordered by other military alliances and don't feel the need to behave like this. How many countries are bordered by the CSTO? Loads, including NATO members in the Baltic and NATO member Turkey.
And Ukraine wasn't likely to be admitted into NATO any time soon anyway, so it's a moot point.
Also, prior to Putin deciding to madly blow up any good will towards him with this invasion, a number of NATO members were on friendly terms with Russia, e.g Hungary and Italy.
