agreed BB, it is a disgusting situation and all the efforts attempted so far have not made any significant or sustainable improvements.
and I also agree that in some places the problems are deeply entrenched.... just as it is in remote white townships where people go to hide from the laws and police.... its truly not just an Aboriginal problem
"the people who think they are doing good". ........ are the politicians - on both sides. just look at the Howard Intervention and the consequences. The Labs didn't change much and Abbott, despite him making himself Minister for first Australians, had only the most simplistic perception and suggestions.
I don't know what the answers are and the leaders of first Aussies all say they want to control their own problems rather than have politicians doing a stand-over job or neglecting their problems.
seems to me they should at least let have a go..... they just might make more and better changes than previous efforts.... but there needs to be more Aboriginal health workers and genuine approaches to social adjustment and legal v. illegal conduct.
