6 months expenses in the bank in cash, always, no exceptions. Everyone thinks they're invincible until they get hit by a car, get fired, develop a mental health condition or a drug and alcohol problem, lose a significant other and so on and so on.

Life can come at you very quickly and being overleveraged into anything is no way to live. Cash gives you options and security.

Now assuming you have that safety net, consider if you have any better investment opportunities out there and consider if you can actually handle the prospect of a duster and losing 50-75% of your money. Have a good think about it. We all know the possible upside here but I think people forget the basics chasing a dream sometimes.
