One-off payments from the government are one thing, but no one can guarantee you permanently low prices for electricity. The running costs (energy, shipping from Australia) would remain high in the long term and a lot may also depend on who can be won over as a purchase partner for the sulphate and where the business location of the possible purchase partner is located. So it might not make sense to build the system in Australia despite subsidies if a possible battery manufacturer is located in Japan or even Asia?!The questions are still open at the moment and offer a lot of room for speculation.I also think that the preparations for the location are not at the very beginning either.
