I had similar questions after I hung up with DB.
Surely since some of the Australian broker services allow NASDAQ purchases, they should also be able to receive the ADRs from DB. I spoke to Commsec (purely for educational purposes as I no longer intended to convert any shares to ADRs), and they confirmed they could receive the ADRs, but they said it would require figuring out what DB's requirements were to make the transfer to them.
In terms of getting the shares to NAB, there was an extra step according to Commsec. They said the shares had to be moved to Issuer Secured. Pretty sure you don't have to open a NAB trade account, but then again, maybe if you do, that speeds things up?
All in all, quite a few steps and a longer time frame than DB had suggested (Commsec guy figured up to 2 weeks).
Hope this helps. It is all I know, and all I intend to know for now!
