Could the reason the shorts are increasing simply be once the value of HUM shares falls with the part conversion to LFS shares, the value and price of the residual HUM shares will fall, giving the shorter a 'no-brainer'
opportunity to repurchase the hollowed out HUM shares at a way cheaper price?
