The Russian military is getting a thorough smashing in Ukraine, so it's probably a reasonable bet that they'll want to end hostilities before there's too many more dead soldiers and generals.
A few days ago they'd lost 12,000 soldiers in battle.
Maybe that's why gold is on its way down and others are on the way up.
If there's a sudden end to hostilities it's possible gold will crash.
