I recall asking this question years ago.
All I got in reply was waffle and fluff.

Another question I had was: are the test batteries recharged by trickle charge (slow) or by fast charge?
I think the answer was "fast charge" otherwise the whole exercise would take forever.
The reason I asked is that fast charging exacerbates the degradation of the battery due to rapid swelling.

It would be nice to get clear, concise answers to questions like this as it aids our understanding.
Unfortunately, there is far too much "secret squirrel" business for my liking.
