Regardless of what system one uses, the important thing is that marking truly reflect the achievements of the child. There is no point in watering down one child's achievements at the expense of overstating another child's mediocrity. Some children are lazy, others are just plain dumb, and others are bright and have the capacity to go onto bigger and better things.It's just a fact of life, and it is important to society that we weed the bad from the good as soon as possible.
