I looked into it a few years back on how to request that my shares held (via commsec) are not lent out for shorting.... and as I dug into it I found I'd have to request the actual share certificates which would incur additional costs... it sounded like a total rort to me, but I was just a bit naive.... as I assumed that being the 'owner' of the shares I could easily control how my broker managed those shares on my behalf.
