Data & Events Calendar - Week beginning 14 December 2009
In North America
A busy week > on the calendar for the US with PPI, industrial production, empire manufacturing, consumer confidence, CPI, current account, housing starts and employment figures all scheduled for release as well as the FOMC rate decision.
The Senate Banking Committee > will hold a confirmation vote for the nomination of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke to a second term.
Out of Canada > there will be motor vehicle sales, labour productivity, manufacturing sales and CPI figures being released.
In Australia and New Zealand
A lot of data > is scheduled for release over the next seven days for Australia with the pinnacle being Q3 GDP. Second tier data being released include Westpac leading index, DEWR skilled vacancies and HIA home sales.
The AOFM auctions > $300m of Treasury Notes maturing on 12 March 2010 and $600m of Treasury Notes maturing 21 May 2010 on 17 December. There will be no Treasury bond tenders until 13 January 2010.
Out of New Zealand > this week we see the REINZ house price index and the NBNZ’s business confidence data released.
Japan and China*
Releases expected > from Japan this week include manufacturing data, industrial production, machine tool orders, the BoJ’s monetary policy meeting and their official interest rate decision.
Quiet on the Chinese > data front with the only scheduled release being new Yuan loans and money supply figures.
Europe and UK
Out of Europe > we will be seeing employment and industrial production figures, as well as CPI, construction output, current account and trade balance data.
Not much on the > German economic calendar with producer prices and business climate figures being released on the same night.
Out of the UK > there will be house prices, CPI, the retail price index, employment data, retail sales, business investment and public sector borrowing.
