Dicker Data made the decision more than two weeks ago to sever ties with Kaspersky – having acted as a local distributor since May 2019 – in no small part motivated by the Ukrainian heritage of its chief operating officer, Vladimir Mitnovetski.Speaking to The Australian Financial Review, Dicker Data CEO David Dicker said the company had a duty to make the decision.“The Western guys have a responsibility to act,” he said. “It’s hard on the Russian guys we dealt with ... [But] Vlad is Ukrainian, and we’re much more closely affected by that. Even if we weren’t, sometimes you just need to do things.”In a statement from Kaspersky, the company thanked Dicker Data for its hard work and dedication, and said its business operations remained stable.
