Putin is looking across Ukraine at Nato. Just like the Americans viewed the domino theory which led to Vietnam, Putin has valid reasons to believe Nato will begin destabilizing operations against his country once they make it to the Russian border. The guy who could have diffused this, everybody knows, is the comedian, or those controlling him. What is so bad living as a non aligned like Sweden? Nothing much. (yes I know Sweden has now compromised that position). I think it is too late to stop this. The comedian is too dumb or corrupted to stop it and Nato has no intention of stopping it. Those neo nazis in the Ukraine ranks have been interrupted in their genocide of Russian speakers with only 12-14,000 killed so far. I doubt the comedian even has the power to stop that. Putin has already stated he will if he can.
The dice has been rolled. The US is fanning the flames from a safe distance, so they think. The geriatric is creeping around trying to a figure out how to use this to win the mid terms in November. That could be very dangerous, a geriatric with one foot in the grave making decisions that could end the world as we know it. I imagine Putins battlefield nukes are on a hair trigger.

there is a very big difference between Sweden and Ukraine. It was not regarded as part of Russia ever. Finland - subjected to incursions but Sweden not (you’ve got to get through finland first anyway). You can even see it in the style of the dwellings in both countries.

Ukraine - well you know full well what Putin thinks - it’s his. Indivisibly so. neither finland nor Sweden are anywhere near as attractive to Putin, geographically, historically or economically.

of course there is one person who could really have stopped this - Putin. He could simply gave stayed at home. He could have left Crimea alone. Or donbass of Donetsk regions. He could have stopped thinking he could rearrange borders to suit his own ambitions. He could have seen what would happen if he just left well alone. Afterall he could have waited till an offensive force gathered in his borders and then dropped a bomb on them. Or whatever
