Do China and India really "have" to urbanise?

Hundreds of millions are living on glacial melt from the Himalayas... another depleting resource.

I haven't come across any information to show one way or the other that there is enough resources in the world for 'modernisation' of the Asian continent but I'm inclined to think that most of what we have will have gone up in smoke and be helping to melt their water supply before they even get to the starting line.
