I agree with you that it is absurd to be prosecuted for protecting your own property and life. Perhaps it is the desire for governments to break us and make us dependent on them for protection. Reminds me of the story of the man who when he called the police to report his house was being broken into,was told that they would be there within 2 hours as they were busy. He called them back 5 minutes later and said that he thinks he killed one of them, and the cops were there in 1 minute.
