You are doubtless right about the frequency and I think (opinion) the flight cycles depends on the route flown.
Qantas aircraft of the 737 variety tend to be used on longer routes as Qantas link and Q400's tend to be used on the short/thin routes so over a year Qantas 737's will complete fewer "cycles" than say Rex 737's which may be flying shorter routes therefore more cycles.
So it is a bit of a moving feast, perhaps I was oversimplifying by using your check analogy
I hope this all makes sense.
