Interesting to note shift in renewal announcement date each year since 4DS announced plans to "4DS COLLABORATES WITH IMEC" in November 2017.

21 - May - 2018
08 - May - 2019
01 - May - 2020
13 - May - 2021
It has gone from being left to end of term to announce to consistently happening 6-8 weeks before end of term. Maybe this reflects the more consultant like role since collaboration with IMEC commenced & has become more of a tick & flick for WD (ie no significant resources or legal commitments/risks ) .
Regarding IP & statements like "All patents have been developed in-house and are free from any royalty and or licensing obligations." (4DS GRANTED 32nd USA PATENT) - Could this be interpreted as 4DS doesn't have to pay anyone fees to use tech themselves rather than if any tech was jointly developed & subject to JDA? Appreciate any clarity HC forum can provide.
