That has to be the mildest way to explain SO4 I have ever read lol. They didn't get the grades, potash is a difficult market to sell into, and management were far bigger trouble makers than anyone cares to admit. So this comparison is apples to pumpkins.
Having said that, capital required to build the plant will be significant and I tend to err on the side of caution like yourself until I have seen feasibility studies. Once the plant is built, and this is what gives me the greatest peace of mind, our operation costs will be minimal. We don't have to dig deep. Strip mining is cheap. Look at the yields from the torbanite and the products derived from it - then look at the prices those products sell for.
