I would have thought you had the capacity to understand if you saw some of the problems out there - in which case - have a talk with some social workers and get an idea of some of the cases they see.
have a talk with something like workers in places where brain damaged people are cared for - or perhaps palliative care workers - they see all sorts of problems.
visit a cancer ward, surgical ward, - all sorts or places that you appear oblivious to understanding the level of problems in our society -
indeed, you're so well qualified for it - I suggest you join the Libs and run for PM --
