their are many aspects of the sanctions but they are basically curtailing Russia's ability to trade in the world
won't stop , will reduce Rusian trade , will make it more difficult
Russia is expending big bucks attacking ukraine and needs some cash to pay down it's debt

Trust me , if Putin believed in Santa one of the big things he'd be asking for is lifting of sanctions

to put it another way the west aren't fighting Russia with guns but with money
