Maybe they're aiming too high or too proud to do menial tasks, or won't relocate to areas with work. It's not as if they're seeking a career at that age.

I'm well over sixty and have just been offered $30ph to be a mate to an aged neighbour...home care scheme. No qualifications necessary aside from a police check and vac certificate. It's not hard and even inspired me to get my first covid shot. Money talks lol.
