I was a slumlord for more than 20 years and you would have rocks in your head if you didn't go through a property agent. They are worth every cent you pay them especially come a dispute!
I found it easier to drop the rent price and get a stable tenant than upping the rent and if you had a good tenant thank your lucky stars and treat them well.
I got out of property because with a bit of study and diligence and it was much easier to invest in shares with regular dividends.
I feel most people my age who still have multiple rental properties are stupid and miserable!
My biggest beef is now young people trying to enter the property market are copping it because there are too many miserable old boomers making it hard for them and not caring about their plight.
I suggest tax the landlords higher with 3 rentals or more and use that money to offer first home buyers incentives to enter the property market.
P.S. The venomous replies from this post I get will be entertaining, but my message remains, lets give our younger generation a chance!
