just google your question regarding rain...
a simplistic response I have seen is, rain precipitates over cooler areas, cooler areas cause water vapor to condense. When air becomes cooler it loses its ability to carry water.
Rain falls on areas where there are forests, trees and vegetation, which is cooler than dry arid hot land.

and another thing....I was advised to contact Landcare, become involved....that is all well and good, except I have been aware that Landcare have been around for over 20 years....
so why have they been silent, regarding the weeds contribution, to the greening, to restore fertility...

Peter Andrews suggests, allow weeds to grow, weeds only grow in an unhealthy soil... when the soil becomes healthy, the weeds will die off and grasses will replace the weeds.....

so what does Landcare say about weeds....well the same old mantra, weeds are evil, weeds cots a lot of money to eradicate....blah blah blah...so Landcare are perpetuating the myth, the wrong story and contributing to the errors...
