    I wouldn't get too excited.
    Gas bubbles in mud really does not mean too much.
    If they use a heavier mud, then the bubbles will reduce, if they use a lighter mud there will be more bubbles.
    If they use even lighter mud and we get gas readings of 10,000. It just means the well is about to blowout!

    Yes it proves there is some gas down there....

    But is it a known thin coal layer producing CBM, or a known shale layer with 1% porosity?
    Bubbles in Mud would be expected, but probably completely uneconomic.

    Bubbles can be a very nice indicator, but we need more information on the geology, secondary target, and a really good understanding of mud weight and pressures before this can be interpreted.. The Mud Logger maybe excited right now. I'm not, as I don't have the required info.
