I'm not an AVR holder although it's been on my watch list for months as I am a recipient of an aorta valve from a cow, via open heart surgery following a blood infection 18 months ago. A biological valve was recommended, probably due to my age, but I was informed that a mechanical valve would necessitate being on Warfarin for the rest of my life. Given the problems I had with my INR levels being so labile, I was glad to be off it after a month. My question is "Do recipients of Arteris aura valves have to take Warfarin for the rest of their lives?"
