Tesla's 4680 silicon anode, is metallurgical silicon (coated with a conductive polymer) and mixed with graphite (natural and synthetic) The silicon loading is only 5-10%.
@Duramax - kaolin can be used to produce High Purity Aluminium - Aluminium Oxide.
ATC is using this product to coat silicon, where they are are resolving the expansion caused by silicon. other uses are for battery separators - stops thermal run away. it is also used in LED lights.
