The operative word being "colonization" which, since 1917, Russia does not do. However imperialist powers US/UK and Germany DO want to colonize Russia, , , so Russia defends itself by trying to establish "neutral buffer" countries on it's borders. Even sometimes by military action, which you mistake as imperialism.
But it is not imperialism, it is the defensive actions of a commodity producer trying to protect itself FROM imperialism.
