Do I think it influences the decision making? In my experience no. I think at best it provides relationships that provide insights into up and coming tenders. Federal government tenders are quite strict and often involve external probity advisors, which makes its even less likely for corruption to occur.

I think the problem is, is that people (voters) have seen the levels of corruption that have played out in the media within the State and local governments and simply assume that it occurs at a federal level. It just simply doesn't occur because of the detachment from decision making and funds in federal government. What I would agree occurs (across both parties) is MP's using their position for undue influence on community decisions.

LOL endeavouring to white wash the federal govt's dirty linen is not a credible approach.

An ICAC will establish whether claims of rorting or improper allocation of contracts
were corrupt or not. Its the peoples taxes and borrowed money that according to Clive Palmer
could take 180 years to pay off that we are talking about and none of it should involve corrupt practices.
