It's very true, so many people drive around in a brand new car they bought on finance at stupid interest rates, drink numerous coffees from coffee shops each day, buy lunch, have foxtel, a credit card always paying interest etc etc etc and then bitch and moan they can't afford a home. If they added up all the money they waste by not doing some simple things like making their own coffee and making a sandwich to take to work for lunch and driving an older car they could afford with cash, they'd be surprised how many tens of thousands they could quickly save.

you're probably divorced (or soon to be). No partner in their right mind would put up with your frugal, puritanical way of life. People like nice things in life and will always choose the path of least resistance. It is part of survival instinct. I hope your happy bringing all your investments and millions to the grave. A lot of good it will be to you there.
