I think these shares were those returned by the short seller who borrowed them. The term "rehypothecated" is used in the announcement which on Googling is a term used when lending assets and those assets are returned. Short positions has plummeted to around 20m recently and this data is 4 days lagged so it is likely the shorter bailed out ahead of the Apus results.
