Easy - the answer is that they have a perfectly functioning operational plant there on-site. To discover an economic deposit, you need enough operational cashflow to financially justify the significant Capex and other costs (including opportunity costs) that comes with developing a greenfield mine.

Sure, I understand that, but they've been throwing the odd $10-20 million at continually for ten years+ and apart from the original drill hole at DeGrussa have found zero. I think you have to accept that SFR are not an exploration company. Even Red Bore on their doorstep seems to have come to nothing. I'm just suggesting that it's time to give up and cut their exploration losses. The odd (regular) $10-20 million might be better off spent in the form of dividends in shareholders pockets.
