it was possible for the Lib govt over the last 9 years to reduce the risk of refugees coming to Aus, and a few tried and were towed back, by making arrangements with the Indonesian Govt to allow Aus officials, or Indonesian officials, to assess and arrange transport by air to Aus for further processing and placement either in Aus or elsewhere (normal UNHCR protocol).

every report I've read over the years including some official security reports show the Govt has been aware of the situation. and of course Morrison used this in '19 against Shorten. M. knows this will happen and it probably will.
