The NBN people regularly called, but never "fixed" the problem.. All working here, they claimed. The had hung the cable from a power pole, strung it along under the eaves to arrive at a space where the house bricks were visible, ran the cable through a pipe, which they then stapled to the bricks, drilled a hole in the wall, and took it through to my family room and there utilized a small table to accomodate their modems, etc. However, NBN didn't work. I was told I live in an underground area and cable hanging from a power pole was illegal as pole did not belong to NBN and should have been put underground. Pole belongs to private company as all poles had been privatized. Also expect poor reception, as cable swinging in garden, under pergola which was heavy with grape vine, very bad. Lost count on how many visits from NBN workers. I was told by teo of them that they were from weeks of working in Tasmania and, because of their experience, they would make NBN operate. Didn't happen. Should work they said. But it doesn't inside, I tell another NBN delegation...but the external box under the spouting works, well come inside, and see for yourselves, oh no, not permitted to enter premises, will make a report to the boss....many bosses were reported to... months turned into years...sometimes they climbed a lady and cut branches of trees growing in my garden to enable cable to swing more freely. Finally, attention by my computer man turned to the I-Primus NBN ready modus. Changed to TPG who insisted I use their modem and not the I-Primus one, despite the fact that I'd paid for it. I was beyond caring by this time. Departed I-Primus who paid back a fraction of what I was owed, new modem installed --- NBN worked.
When I write all that took years, that was true.
Once I had an NBN man with another who he told me was being trained by him. Yet another occasion of great amusement....
