Hi KG, Its one thing for posters to have a view about, refugees,queue jumpers,people smugglers etc and views such as yours about sustainability etc are certainly not racist. Its things like "sink the boats" etc that give rise to racist claims. Hot Copper may well have quite a number of people who came to this country as refugees and I am not talking about just from the small numbers currently arriving here.

The thread heading tells us that from decades ago hundreds of thousands have settled in Australia going back to the huge influx from Vietnam. These people are now Australians some have children and grandchildren who have been born here and many are successful citizens in a range of fields.

These people and/or their children, how must they feel when they read things such as "sink the boats" and other derogatory comments on this forum about refugees? Probably depressing and intimidating for some.

Anyway KG as I said at the start I dont see any problems based on equity or sustainability as raised by you.

Just my opinions on the matter.
