Jay I think they are looking to a more difficult commercial market in 2010. I had a talk to them just before Christmas complaining that they have not given us any info. The person was at pains to tell me that Abacus and parts of its management are experts in distressed asset acquisitions. He implied but did not say that opportunities will open up this year as banks squeeze harder on the equity front.
So I think they are looking for more money in the bank and I think they would welcome more shareholder money.I also think its got a lot to do with restructuring some of the funds and I think we will see action there as well.
I think this one will run once its got solutions to all its unlisted funds and the taps open again. I am led to believe that advisor's have been having to switch clients themselves as there is no secondary market in these funds. Stopped by ASIC as it would be an exchange - once again hindering rather than helping the market in these times.
At these prices its worth your while to take up the SPP and I will as well and may sell it later depending on how things work out. it must be becoming a good Aussie property play but I think they could do well by consolidating some of the players out there.
I am no a seller until way above 50c and I would have to look hard at what I can replace it with to move out. Westfield doesn't excite me - I don't like the UK at all - what do they make there and with a nanny state and welfare how long can it last with the debt they have racked up. The USA is also a worrying place right now long term unemployment and significant under employment is a worry.
I cant wait to see the impact of a few opportunistic buys would do to this one. I see Kirsch has upped his stake as well in the inst placement.
This is my bottom draw stock at the moment.
