Putin is pro capitalist president of a capitalist country so obviously I wouldn't be a supporter let alone a sycophant.

I think about 80% of the german nazi army was hurled at Russia and only 20% were needed to invade and occupy western europe.
The turning point of the entire war was defeat for the Nazi's in stalingrad by Jan 43, but D-day was almost 18 months later in June 44 and could not have occurred without the titanic victories and sacrifice of the people of the Soviet Union.
The only parallels with today and the 1940's are that the USSR then, and Russia now, face an invasion and existential threat from imperialism.
And the Russians are fighting against Nazi battalions again.
