your are correct about significant constraint on household expenditure
I just don't think that equates to more people buying
through whatever method
people just aren't buying as much here
and they don't want to get themselves into more debt over things they don't really need. Covid has hit the economy hard and there is no government assistance
the ones that can't afford it, live within their means, except for maybe car payments
the ones that can afford it just pay in full
