There was a brief period during the Hawke era, when we embraced change and punted on having a crack. The music was great, the fashions were exciting, the stock market became flavour of the month, homely women blossomed into attractive, we stepped out and the punitive arm of the law seemed to relax. Ever so gradually we have devolved into the grip of govt over reach and control, obsession with partisan politics and big brother. IMO
