I do not believe that the vast majority of retail investors are aware that their shares are being lent out for shorting. This behaviour by nominee brokers is deceitful. It is a bit like taking your car in for a service only to find that the garage has hired it out for the day. How would you feel about that? It is just another example of how financial services firms feel that it I OK to steal from their clients. Rant over!
