I was going to ask exactly the same thing. Zero correlation as far as I can see. Increased government spending on cyber security, especially enhanced ASD capabilty is bipartisan. Governments aren’t the only ones spending big on cyber security. The Opposition has said that over time it will cut $3 billion out of consultancies over time but that’s directed to what is arguably pretty wasteful spending on consulting contracts let to the likes of Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, McKinsey et al to do what the APS was and in many cases, still is capable of doing. Consultancy contracts of the nature of those awarded to the Big 4 and their ilk also reduce government transpareny and accountability. You can’t get the Managing Partners of McKinsey before a Senate estimates hearing for a grilling by the likes of Penny Wong. Anyway, I digress. It’s a good quarterly report.
