I don't think they 'knew' it was unrealistic. I think it was more of a 'what if' it didn't reach $4.5. So they hatched up a very clever back up plan where they gave share holders a hefty discount of the share price on that day as the SPP offer. At the time, it was a very sweet deal (I remember some complaining the price was too cheap, too generous). I dug in deep to try maximise my buying allocation of the SPP. Sure, the share price had since fallen, but RAC is now fully funded to explore the full potential of our amazing drug Zantrene. I am so glad they did the SPP when they did! With the way the market and world is atm I think it was a very astute decision. Another reason to make me think management know what they are doing.
