The buying side of things is pretty clear if you are going to hold.

Cut off is Thursday the 2nd.

However if you buy shares on Thursday, Good luck selling those same shares on the Friday 3rd (next day).

You won’t own them on the register on Monday.

Cross checked my own trades, and those bought last Weds and sold Thurs, those shares never entered the share registry. They would have needed to be there on Friday close. They were not.
